Friday, January 14 afternoon is the day of receipt the library.
Who's invited?
Three classes of Lasalle School: A kindergarten class (medium and large), two classes of elementary (CP and CE1-CE2) together with their teachers, parents and assistants and employees of school life.
No champagne, petits fours or the program, but books and stories. No ushers wear, no servers in full regalia, but volunteers to greet them.
Children who are not already come with their parents at the library, and there-discover this magical place where words create worlds.
Volunteers explain to them how it works, then they tell their stories.
Some think he should not tell stories to children. We must tell them the truth. But in these stories, these tales, there is probably more truth in our everyday perception of reality.
They listened attentively to stories read by Tammy, one of the volunteers. They found with her library books: "The bear thief merguez," "The tree that made a Princess Leila," among others ... They was also very attentive to the stories told by Gerard (another volunteer), including "The little ant," "The egg blue," "The hare and the hedgehog. " Perhaps they tell themselves to their families, their friends.
After listening, each class has prepared a time of freedom for exploring books at their disposal.
They say the book is an object overtaken by new technologies. But when you see the pleasure and concentration of children browsing or reading the books they chose. We take hope for the future of reading, even though statistics say that children stop reading about 12 years.
It was a beautiful afternoon. Each child could bring a book home, after the teacher had entered his class at the library.
appointment was made for in 3 weeks and in the meantime, the library also waiting for the arrival of toddlers to the nursery soon.
Children are the future of reading, of course.
